Growing up, I had multiple family members diagnosed with autism and other developmental needs. At the time, none of us—my family, caregivers, or community—had access to the knowledge or resources we needed. I didn’t understand what autism truly was, how to support those I loved, or how much early intervention could change a child’s life. Looking back, I wish I had the tools, training, and understanding that I have now.
That longing to have “known more back then” became one of the biggest motivators behind my career. I wanted to make sure no family felt lost, unsupported, or unheard the way mine once did. I wanted to become the person I needed growing up—someone who could guide families, empower them, and give their children a chance to thrive.
